In a study of 600 former foster care youth ages 23 and 24 done by the Univeristy of Chicago, less than half were employed, almost 25 percent had been homless since exiting foster care, more than 75 percent of young women had been pregnant, nearly 60 percent of young men had been convicted of a crime, and only 6 percent had a 2 or 4 year degree.
